At last, we can stop using the term "face of evil". ^^

I do hope that we see more of Vereor after this chapter.
Xe's more along the ebil line, and that's the best kind of villain.

Meh. Slenderman is scarier*. This guy talks too much. It humanizes him, which makes him far less frightening. He looks like some Scarecrow expy.

No offense to the author/artist, btw - I think this guy was purposely designed to be a little goofy.

IT'S A TRAP! Oh this so reeks of trappage

Reply Heliotroph (Guest), 11 Feb 2013 06:51 pm

It's not a trap; it's a clever ploy. Dolly's power is correlated with how happy she is. Seeing her little sister gone to the dark side (motivated by resentment towards her) will likely depress her, leaving her weak.

Here's hoping it is 'turned to the darkside' instead of Vereor betraying her when it's clear he's a smooth enough talker and she was emotionally vulnerable enough at the time that he could easily turn her into the ultimate weapon against Dolly. And also he should be smart enough to know that 'mind control never works for long and always goes ka-put you need it to work the most and it's just better to have the mark WILLINGLY become a thing of nightmares by appealing to the darkness already there.' If he really IS the spirit of fears and he's apparently made Natsume his chosen one. I get that this guy is an evil jerk, sadly, fear is a natural and needed part of humanity.

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
