Duel-screen transformation sequence action!

To be honest, this seems more like a zombie plague than lycanthrope plague - mindless, shambling brutes with no semblance of their former selves who infect others with a bite or scratch. The wereplushies themselves (which are, to the artist's credit, appropriately creepy) resemble lifeless zombies more than living plushdolls. And where's the full moon? Did I miss it in a previous strip?

spell it out for me I would be insulting Power Rangers, Digimon, He-Man, and Sailor Moon if I tried to ask why the monsters don't attack them while TFing so I won't.

But I I'll fold, anyone recognize the three were-beasties?

Reply Alex Warlorn (Guest), December 14th, 2012, 9:59 pm

I hope that I hope that they aren't completely mindless. And I'm honestly curious how they interact with each other when there's no one to infect nearby.

Reply Darkzamiel (Guest), December 15th, 2012, 2:05 am

@Alex Warlorn: The reason why they are not attacking is because the heroes were polite enough to turn up on for the attack so in return the monsters let them transform

its getting interesting xD oh i really hope they arent mindless! it would make it so much more interesting

Reply Lord T Hawkeye, December 15th, 2012, 9:24 am

Well, they're not mindless but feral so mainly instinct driven.

Reply Heliotroph (Guest), December 15th, 2012, 10:56 am

@Lord T Hawkeye: Not much difference in behavior between the two, to be fair. It's mostly their appearance and the lack of the full moon that makes them seem more like zombies.

Reply M (Guest), December 15th, 2012, 12:36 pm

There's a big difference between mindless and feral. Mindless is psychoticaly crazed, while entities that are feral can be tamed... Or evolve...

Wait... It's been AT LEAST 12 hours since Natsume received that "gift". That means everyone at the park is infected, since none of them called for help. And given that carnivals are usually in the centers of cities, that means there is a high chance that the downtown area was infected, and so quickly that there were no alerts. If the condition could spread fast enough to stop communications... That means most of the city is already infected!

Reply Heliotroph (Guest), December 15th, 2012, 5:17 pm

Speaking of which, do you think Natsume will be in any way different from your run-of-the-mill zombie plushie, and if so how?

Reply Alex Warlorn (Guest), December 15th, 2012, 9:43 pm

@Heliotroph:
I just hope the Face of Evil didn't flat out betray her the moment she admitted she wanted power too. It would be much more interesting if the voice has strung her along to think that's she doing the good thing here, and so her big sister is the bad guy for trying to stop her.

Reply M (Guest), December 16th, 2012, 9:39 am

Maybe Natsume's a Gravemind, or something similar.

Reply Heliotroph (Guest), December 16th, 2012, 1:33 pm

@Alex Warlorn: Agreed. Much more interesting, but unlikely - call it narrative intuition. The Face of Evil is probably going to be the main antagonist alluded to at the end of the first story arc who will test and harass the heroines - all transformation related, natch - before making his final move.

@Alex Warlorn: The two stock answers for why there is no attack during the TF sequence are:

1) The TF is actually near instantaneous, it's just slowed down for the viewer.

2) The TF includes a protection component that blocks any attacks.

Reply Fetch (Guest), December 18th, 2012, 11:31 am

Enemy has to attack BEFORE or DURING the saying of the activation phrase. Usually by knocking the 'morpher' out of the hero's hand.

Reply MitchellTF (Guest), December 19th, 2012, 7:55 pm

Okay. They REALLY need better stitching...

Reply M (Guest), December 19th, 2012, 9:36 pm

Is the Neko Detective's change just a holographic disguise, a hard light shell, or a full matter-data-matter conversion? Been wondering about that for a while. Oddly enough, the last option seems the most probable.

Hold it! Here's how I'D do it:
Dolly: It's Play Time!
N.D.: Cat's On The Case!
Me: S.P.D., EMERGENCY!
(POST-MORPHING)
Me: Space Patrol Delta!(BOOM!)
N.D.: Neko Police Department!(BOOM!)
Dolly: Let's Dolly This!(BOOM!)
